My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Hi, hi, hi, hi, up, up, up, up." Meow, meow, meow." These are just a few of the phrases I started to say immediately in my foster home. My name is Guzi and I am a 23 year old male eclectus parrot. I got my name because I sometimes make a sound like a horn, sort of like the sounds that geese make. When I came into rescue my beak was very long and my bloodwork showed elevated liver numbers due to many years of an improper diet. After almost a year in rescue, my liver values are becoming more normalized and I am now cleared for adoption, but my beak may continue to require frequent trims. I'm a social fellow and I'm a really soft-spoken little green man, I don't scream at all and I really like when the cat actually does come when I call him, it's hysterical. I call my foster dad's name a lot and I call the dog over to me before I throw him some food.. I bathe myself every morning before I eat, and I love to eat. I sometimes beg from my foster mom when I see her eating. I follow her food with my eyes. I can't help it. I eat everything. I even eat baby kale leaves when she hands them to me. I eat chop, I eat pellets, I eat it all. I'd be your best friend for a raspberry and I also love almonds! Of course, since I am an elcectus, I need a specialized eclectus diet which includes chop twice a day, tops organic pellets, and other eclectus safe foods, so please make sure you are educated about my species. I like everyone, although I do prefer men, I'll even give them kisses, and I even like kids. Women are eh …. okay. I really need to be in a home with other birds though, otherwise I become extremely depressed, will stop interacting, and will stop eating, so if you think you may want to adopt me, please make sure you have at least one other bird in the home. I don’t need physical contact with other birds, I just need to see them and be in the same room with other birds. I do prefer other male eclectus. I love to watch them and see what they are doing - they fascinate me and sometimes I feel like I have found my long lost brothers when I see them! So it would be a perfect match if you already have one who lives with you, although I am fostered in a place where there is a macaw, and he is OK to be around, too. Let me know if you want to meet me, I'll be around. I'm a postcard eclectus and would love to meet you! Hopefully soon, my special family will find me. In the meantime, if you would like to send me a gift from my wish list, I would really appreciate it.
