My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Maisy. I am a 3-year-old spayed female Basenji mix. I weigh approximately 26 pounds.

I would describe myself as sweet, gentle, and loving. I can be a little on the shy side when first put in new situations, but I do warm up quickly. I wouldn't consider myself to be a very confident dog, so I'm looking for a family that understands my need to ease into things. Do you think you could be the family for me?

There isn't much background information on me that I can give you. I was brought into a local high-kill shelter as a stray. I'm not sure how long I was on the streets for. It could have been a few days or a few weeks. It's easy to lose track of things like that when your main focus is just trying to survive.

I spent about 3 weeks at the shelter before CageFree heard about me. Thank goodness they had room for me in their rescue. I'm not sure how much longer the shelter would have allowed me to stay. I know that a lot of dogs don't make it out alive. I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones!
