Andy, here! I am one of a huge litter that was rescued as a new-born from a high-kill shelter when Mom was given up by her family because they couldn't afford to feed her. That was in December, 2014. I've had nothing but the best food and plenty of loving from CARE, Inc. volunteers during my short life, so I don't even remember my bad start. Mama Oreo was rescued by CARE, Inc. along with me and my litter mates so we have had the added security and nurturing of Mom who taught us her laid-back way of getting along with other dogs and her love of people. She appears to be mostly American Bulldog with some terrier tossed in the mix,maybe some dalmatian. They say she is super sweet and smart, just like me! Her new family says she is the best dog they ever had. They say my dad, a husky/border collie mix also has a winning personality and has been adopted by a family that considers him a treasure. Does that make me hidden treasure? Not for long, I hope! Maybe you will connect with my winsome face. Volunteers are great but it's not like having a family of my own.
July 24, 2014---by Volunteer Gwen I took Andy home for a spa day, not just to give this sweet boy a break from kennel life but to give me a chance to bathe him, take some photos and write an accurate blurb. Unlike many rescue dogs who have not seen many humans, Andy showed no hesitancy around me or my husband. Outdoors and with our dogs he is fun-loving and curious---definitely submissive. We don't have a cat to test his reaction, but since he looks so steadily to humans and other dogs for cues on how to behave, I would expect him to learn cat manners in record time. His first trip indoors was scary but it was good to see that he looked to the humans to help him understand weird stuff like ceiling fans, flushing toilets, and voices coming out of black boxes.
