Here's what the humans have to say about me:
BAXTER is a 4 year old neutered chocolate male Lab who weighs 41 pounds. Baxter is a super sweet guy who has had a rough life up until now. We hope to be able to make it better. He came as a stray from a rural area and appears to have had poor nutrition and not a lot of care in his past. We are working on putting some weight on him and getting rid of the myriad of intestinal parasites, fleas and ticks he had, as well as a bad UTI, poor thing. He also has an old hip injury that did not heal correctly, giving him a funny gait. Our vets do not think he is in any pain. We are having his xrays evaluated by our ortho vet to see if anything should be done. Despite it all, he is a happy, waggy, loving fellow that just wants to hang out with you and get love. It is amazing how resilient and forgiving these creatures are! From his transporter: Baxter is Awesome! He's a bit unsure of what's going on from the looks of it. We spent just under 2 hours on the drive down to RVA. He got past the pet net 2 miles in, just wanted to be near me. Once I put the net down he settled right in. He is fascinated with other cars and would walk around the back of the suv when passing or being passed checking out the other car/people. My guess is he has had some socializing, but not a lot of "close" contact. He did well when I lifted him into the SUV. He was a little afraid going into the vet, but was OK once someone held the door and I carried him in. He may be a bit younger than 5 with poor diet and healthcare. I think he'll probably gain 10 lbs and fill in a bit in the back with a good high protein diet and vet care. He kissed and nuzzled me from behind after I took down the net and was very friendly and loving. Baxter is very easy on leash and not jumpy or overly active. He is keeping his run clean and is respectful of bedding at the vet. He is good with other dogs. He is approved for kids 10+. More info soon!
