My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JANEY is a 1 1/2 year old spayed yellow female Lab who weighs 40 pounds. Janey is a very sweet, but very timid girl. She has blossomed a lot since we first took her in at which point she was terrified! She is still timid but adjusting very well at her foster. She has gotten used to everyone there and has even started to seek some attention at times. She is at her best when playing with the other dogs as she takes her cues from them. We believe she needs to go to a home with another dog. She is a petite, dainty girl. She will need a patient adopter that is willing to let her go at her own pace and take her time in learning to trust them, but once she trusts, she is a love! Janey is a good rider once she is in the car. She is afraid to get in but can be lifted in and does OK. She is actually pretty good on leash. She seems to be house trained and is doing great in the crate also. She is GREAT with other dogs - loves them! Janey was a stray to a shelter. She is approved for kids 10+.

Updatae (1/17)Hi I'm Janey. I'm getting braver each day and I have mastered walking down the hallway to find everyone in the back bedroom. Foster Mom and Dad are really proud of me. Once I was back there today, I was put up on the bed and I got cuddled. At first I was nervous but then I relaxed and actually enjoyed having my ears rubbed. Foster Mom says that I will get some Cheesy Poofs (my favorite) later today! A little about me in case you have forgotten. I'm a year old timid girl that needs a family that is patient and has a fenced in yard, a crate since that is my safe place and another dog in the home to help me find my confidence.
I'm in Lynchburg waiting for my special family. Call your AC to come make me your girl. Foster Mom and Dad have told me that my special family does exist.

Note: JANEY MUST HAVE A FENCED YARD. No E-fences. Janey is a VERY timid dog who is just learning about a lot of things and is NOT for the average adopter. She is not a plug and play pup. Janey has lived in the country and she has had limited exposure to city noises, traffic, and groups of people.

Update (01/15): Janey is a beautiful sweet timid 1 year old girl that is slowly coming out of her shell. Today she decided she didn't like being alone in her crate and den so she sought me out back in the bedroom. While she wanted to jump up on the bed with me, she decided laying on the dog bed at the foot of the bed was better. Janey needs a family that has a confident dog that can help her with her insecurities and a fenced in yard. She loves romping with her foster siblings and you can see the joy that she will one day experience with people. She has begun playing with toys and will "sneak" them into her crate so the other dogs can't get them. She also loves peanut butter and nylabones.
If you think you might be Janey's special family, contact your AC to meet her. She is definitely worth it.

Update (01/01) Just Janey (Foster Friday)
Happy New Year and I've heard that 2016 is going to be my year to find my forever family. Foster Mom says I'm so beautiful and regal looking and very sweet too. I'm doing really well here in Lynchburg. I love going out in the backyard and exploring; especially with the other dogs here. When Foster Mom calls, I'm very happy to come inside. I'm sleeping well in my crate and I'm such a good girl. I will join the gang when they are looking for treats (I really love peanut butter). I will also take them from FMs hands. Yesterday I saw Reese playing with a rope toy. When she dropped it and walked away, guess who decided to check it out? Yep, it was me! I took it in my crate for a bit until Foster Mom thought I was chewing on it just a little too much. I'm not sure I agree with her decision but I didn't argue about it.
Oh, I did have a bath once I got here. At first it was scary but then,...the warm water, the good smelling shampoo and the scrubbing felt so good. I just sat down, stopped shaking and enjoyed my spa treatment. This has made my fur even softer!
I'm looking for my forever family. You see, I'm learning how to trust people so I'm a little timid. Talk to your AC to come make my dream come true.
Love,
Janey

Update (12/14): Janey has had some real break-throughs in the last couple of weeks. She is seeking out attention at times and has started to play with toys, especially tennis balls. Yesterday, a new male human - yes, a male! - came to visit and Janey actually ate out of his hand. Way to go Janey!

Update (12/01): Janey is on a roll. She is not hiding in her crate all the time and actually seeking out attention from her foster. She is still having tons of fun playing with the other dogs and is waiting for her forever family to come get her and give her time to settle in!

Update (11/25): Janey has been making great progress! She is actually seeking out attention at times. She loves to play outdoors with the other pups and is getting more comfortable with comings and goings. She is even smiling some these days!

Update (10/30): Janey is doing better all the time. She loves all the girls that come in and work with her foster throughout the week and is building trust all the time. While she is still cautious, she will seek out a pet or a rub at times and especially if she thinks a treat is involved - she loves treats! She LOVES playing with the other dogs and loves toys but can be very calm and really loves to hang out in her crate with the door open and observe the world inside. She is searching for that person that will give her the time and space she needs to blossom and shine - is that you??

Update (10/28): Janey is still making progress. She is seeking attention and loving from her foster more as time progresses. She is searching for a patient, kind family to help her finish her transformation. Her favorite thing is to play with the other dogs and when she is doing that she has no fear, only fun. Humans are the scary thing for her but she is learning that they are not all bad! Won't someone open you home and give her the chance to continue to grow and trust.....

Update (10/16): The foster is making great strides with Janey- she stops before coming out of her crate each time to get her ears scratched. She will run up to foster and bump her hand to see if there is a treat when she is out. She still has a ways to go and is still very timid and unsure of herself. She loves to just hang out in her crate with the door open. She also really enjoys playing and running in the yard with the other dogs - that is when she is the happiest and most confident. Janey is looking for a patient, loving family that will give her the time she needs to adjust and trust. She may never be a snuggle bug but has learned that she does like human attention and love. She just needs someone to allow her to move at her own pace. She is crate trained and house trained and we will be working some on leash training now.

Update (8/6): Janey follows a routine very well and loves the other dogs. She is great in the crate with out bedding- she will chew bedding at times. Janey needs another dog to give her confidence. She has come a long way and has started taking treats from foster and not waiting until dropped. Very sweet, shy girl who just needs love and patience.

Update (7/30): Janey is a super sweet little girl. She is still very timid but is getting better. She LOVES to play with the other dogs and should go to a home with another dog as they give her more confidence. She is still a bit shy but has started to seek her foster out for attention at times, especially if the other dogs are getting loving. She will require a patient, understanding home willing to let her progress at her own pace. She is housebroken and crate trained and is very quiet and calm!
