"Now I'm ready for the world no matter what it brings. I can feel all my dreams coming true. As long as you're loving me. As long as you're loving me, I can move mountains, I can part seas. My heart will be open for eternity, As long as you're loving me." - from 'As Long As You're Loving Me' Colleen Ann Fitzpatrick
Our Colleen is indeed ready. She had a rough start and was terrified of shelter life. When she was pulled in to rescue by her wonderful foster family she had no idea what it was like to be loved. Not anymore! Colleen now knows that there are things like toys and belly rubs and great people in the world who treat her with kindness and compassion. Colleen is a gorgeous 6 month old black Border Collie mix with white socks. She currently weighs about 35 pounds and we believe she will be under 50 pounds when full grown.
This precious girl has gone from scared of her own shadow to let's play and have fun. Foster mom says she's nuts about squeaky toys (who wouldn't be? They're the BEST!!) She is just enjoying life the way a puppy should by playing with her foster siblings and hanging out with foster mom and pop. She does well with the house kitty so she gets a passing grade as kitty friendly.
Colleen is doing very well with her house training and is very good in her crate. She would be happiest with an active family who will have fun running off some of that puppy energy. She's not a hyper girl, in fact, she loves to relax and hang out with her humans after playtime is over. She will position herself nearby and keep watch while you read or watch your favorite program. She's not a clingy get in your lap kind of lass but she will lay her head on an available shoulder or leg if the opportunity arises.
Colleen is perfectly content just knowing she is loved. A bit of attention and playtime go a long way with this baby (again, squeaky toys are the way to her heart). She is learning some basic commands like a big girl and we are really proud of her progress.
This precious pup is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and current on preventatives. Colleen is what we call a success story with her remarkable turn around. So yes we have to say she is ready for the world now. We know only wonderful things will come her way now which is any pup's dream come true. She says she will always be a brave and happy girl as long as you're loving her. Will you be the one(s) who can move mountains and part seas for the love of our Colleen?

PUPPIES GROW INTO the expectations of their families through consistent love, caring and training. Puppies cannot be adopted to homes where they are left unattended for more that 3-4 hours.
PLEASE REMEMBER: The specific breed of any dog abandoned to shelter is the best guess by seasoned rescuers in accord with our veterinarians.
Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
