Let's just throw it out there. Nicky is a man's man. He prefers the company of men and would do well with a single doxie Dad. This fun-loving, well behaved puppy unfortunately has seen more action in his young doxie life than many dogs will ever have to. Nicky, a two year old, 13 lb, black and tan Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher puppy was rescued this past summer (July 2015) from a horrific domestic violence/abuse situation. Actually, he was ‘arrested,’ booked and taken to the animal shelter by police and rescued from there. While this was a heartbreaking story at the beginning, it can have a happy ending with little Nicky (a healthy, SUPER cute and active puppy who loves to play ball more than anything) being united with his loving, forever family. If this is you, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org.
NICKY will do best as the only kid in a doxie savvy family with a stay at home Dad (work from home or retired)...with no other pets or children. Like all Dachshunds, NICKY is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, NICKY needs a large secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give NICKY a happy, carefree life? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: firstname.lastname@example.org. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
