My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB June 5, 2005.
Max has done a lot of hard work to come out of his shell. We've been fostering Max for over two months and have watched a wonderful transformation from a very upset and afraid animal into a warm and loving guy. Now that he's less shy and more outgoing, his placid personality is shining through. Don't let his reserve fool you, though; he's a gamer who enjoys playing with toys and chasing a laser pointer. He's easily handled and is not aggressive. He can show some temper when he's afraid, and potential owners shouldn't be put off by this.

Max still needs to hide when he's resting. He'll lay on top of the bed but under a blanket in order to get the solitude that he needs when sleeping. He's also more nervous of men and is still cautious when interacting with them.

Max needs a caring family in a quiet home. He's good with other cats, but doesn't really need their company and will do fine on his own. His new owners should expect him to hide and to get upset for the first while, but having lived with all of the stages of his development, I can say that this upset won't last. It will take time for him to adjust to his new surroundings, but patience on his owners’ part will see him through. Even now, he still needs a quite place away from everything where he can relax and regroup. Right now, he loves to sit on a blanket in the closet with the door open. From there, he placidly watches the world go by.

A Special Note from my Foster Family: Max is really loved for the special cat that he is. When he first arrived, he wouldn't get out from under covers except to eat and relieve himself. Now, he is active and curious and appreciates and actively seeks affection. We've caught him playing with cat toys, and have even heard him purr. He really is a lovely guy.

Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice appreciated, vs. our standard adoption fee of $175.
