Penny is an incredibly cute ball of cottony-softness that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. She's such a beautiful girl with dark, very expressive eyes that melt your heart upon first glance. Once Penny gets a sudsy bath and grooming...she'll absolutely be one of the cutest girls around. At about 12 months old and 9 lbs, Penny is every bit the playful Doxy...fun and active and loves to play outside with like-sized dogs. At at the same time. she is a generally well-behaved dog who is not pushy or unnecessarily vocal - she expresses herself with her wagging tail and excited kisses.
At this point in Penny's development, she loves everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Penny to a family who expresses their devotion for her in many different ways. We'd also like Penny and her family to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best adult dog she's capable of being. Right now, Penny is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved girl around.
We'd like Penny to find her forever place in either a family with gentle older children (12+ would be great) or with active retirees who will include her in their daily activities. Penny is so portable that she can easily be an almost constant companion - she would love nothing more than leisurely walks (and is learning to be quite good on a leash), trips to the store (she's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace would be great for the socialization of this sweet and lovable pup.
Penny is open and curious about the world and therefore can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...she can succeed. Penny's new family needs to have the desire to love and take responsibility for a true-blue, long-term companion. This commitment will result in a very bonded and completely loyal best friend for life. Penny will choose to be close when you want to play, cuddle or just need a best friend to be there in challenging times.
Penny is a non-shedding (or lighty shedding pup) whose coat needs bathing, brushing and general great care to rid it of its shelter dullness and return it to its original beauty. With periodic grooming and great nutrition, the golden and copper streaks will return to Penny's coat and light up her very beautiful and sensitive face.
