Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! My name is Elsa. I’m a 2-year-old female purebred St. Bernard. I weigh about 76 pounds, but I’m a bit underweight. I’ll probably weigh 90 pounds or so once I fill out. I have exactly the type of temperament you’d expect from a St. Bernard – sweet, friendly, calm, and gentle. I am one of the most loving dogs you’ll ever meet, I promise! I love meeting new people, and I’m not shy about asking for pets and cuddles. I’ll give you lots of slobbery kisses in return! Oh, I should probably mention that I get along well with other dogs, too.
How did I end up here, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. I was living on the streets in a not so nice part of LA, when I was picked up and brought to a high-kill city shelter. I had been sitting in my cage for a few days, when one of the volunteers noticed that I was walking sort of funny, so they sent me to the veterinarian for an examination. After x-rays were taken, it was determined that I have hip dysplasia on my left side.
I had all but lost hope of ever getting out of the shelter, when my luck changed. A volunteer noticed me and told their friends at CageFree that I was the biggest sweetheart ever, and that they needed to come meet me. The folks at CageFree must have agreed, because as soon as they laid eyes on me, they just knew they needed to find me a forever home! Once they had me back at their facility, I was sent to their veterinarian to have my hip examined further, where the hip dysplasia was confirmed. It isn’t causing me too much pain right now, but the doctor says I will most likely need surgery in the future.
Despite my health condition, I’m still a happy, friendly easygoing pup. Some walks would be great, but I don’t need a ton of exercise. I’d be happy sitting next to you, relaxing and snuggling all day long. Does that sound good to you? If you’ve been looking for a calm, gentle pup to give you unconditional love, I might be your girl! Please contact CageFree if you’d like set up a time to meet me!
