Scotch Mellow's Story...

Scotch Mellow is a very mellow Doxie mix. He was found literally in the middle of the street snacking on something he found with no care of the traffic around him. He was very skinny and covered in fleas. After a bath and a few good meals & some much needed TLC, Scotch is ready for a fresh start. He is in a foster home getting lots of love and learning how to be a wonderful life long companion. His foster reports that he has been the perfect house guest. Scotch is very quiet, crate trained, gets along with other dogs and cats. He also loves people. Scotch mellow is approximately 10 months old and UTD on shots, micro chipped and neutered.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Scotch Mellow, a Bakersfield Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Bakersfield, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Bakersfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bakersfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bakersfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bakersfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
