My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jake is what we believe to be a Basenji / Whipped mix. He has the sleek body and speed of a whippet but the forehead wrinkles of a Basenji as well as his cat like personality. He loves to rub against your legs, furniture, walls exactly like a cat does. He also loves to sleep on your lap just like a cat. He loves to get body rubs and is affectionate but does not lick like most dogs. He does sleep with his foster Mom and he is a big cuddler. He has the cutest habit of tilting his head when he pays attention to you. Poor Jake was found as a stray and although he was micro-chipped, the phone number it was registered to was out of date and so poor Jake was out of luck. He spent 3 months in the shelter and then his time was up. We just knew that Jake was a great dog and so we took him into our program. He is 2 years old, weighs 36 pounds, is up to date on shots, neutered, micro-chipped and he is now housebroken.

He acted like he had never been in a house but was potty trained in 2 days flat. He is very smart and wants to please. He is currently fostered with 4 cats and 10 dogs and is learning to live within a pack. He plays really well with Chip, his little foster buddy but would do best with dogs that are not dominant, not because he is dominant but because he has not yet learned to play with dogs that are and needs to learn to read their body language. He loves to carry stuffed toys around in his mouth and enjoys the squeaky ones. He would do best with an active family and would love a jogging buddy.
