DIESEL is a medium (45lb), young (8mth old) pit bull puppy who is blind! We believe it is just juvenile cataracts and he is currently consulting with Animal Medical Center in NYC to see if they can restore his sight. He is fearful and will need a patient owner with at most one other, mellow dog, who can help him come out of his shell. He is a real sweetheart in the home! Like many blind dogs, he is a little guardy of his toys and would do best in a home without small kids. A home in the suburbs with a fenced yard would be our dream home for this pup! If his sight cannot be regained, he can still live an incredibly full life -- blind dogs do not have any knowledge that they are "disabled". They learn their way around the home, they can go anywhere on leash (hiking, swimming -- one of our volunteers has a blind dog that loves to go running with her!). Blind dogs are 99% of the time just like all other dogs, and they will surprise you daily with their lack of limitations! Apply today to adopt or foster this special puppy.

About Red Hook Dog Rescue (NY/NJ)

About Our Rescue Group...

Red Hook Dog Rescue is run by the CPDT-KA trainer Harriet Zucker. She has decades of experience helping dogs and their owners in NYC, specifically in the Red Hook, Brooklyn area.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption fee is $250 for young-senior dogs. Puppy adoption fee is $350. We require a short adoption application, home visit and reference checks. We are very hands-on and may require new dog owners to attend obedience lessons (easy, and fun -- and as we pay for them, free).
