My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dugan is a darling boy who is a petite little lab mix at about 35 lbs. He is turning one year old very soon and his birthday wish is a new home.

Dugan has so many wonderful qualities! He is smart, knows many commands (e.g., sit, lay down, come, stay, 'time to eat', will pee on command 'pee pee pee!'), and he is trained to run on a leash He is completely house trained and will go to the door and 'ask' with a short bark to let you know he needs to go out.

He is snuggly. He will literally hug you. Dugan loves human attention, pats, sweet talk, belly rubs, and kisses. He is wonderful with humans of all ages (seen with children as young as 5). Loves males and females alike. He so friendly he would go off with a total stranger (and has attempted when he found one with tasty treats). Speaking of treats, he is highly food motivated. This dog would dance a jig for a treat. He is a happy, goofy, friendly, lovable, obedient, smart pup.

Dugan LOVES dogs his size and larger to play with. He absolutely adores other dogs and will chase, play, snuggle and rough house with them. He is well socialized and can recognize if another dog just isn't into him, and will back off. He has been noted to play too rough with dogs smaller than him, and cats are an absolute NO.

Dugan loves to chew...bones, antlers, stuffed animals, cardboard, toilet paper and tissues, and especially flip flops! He will help himself to these items if left at his level. He has not used a crate for much other than eating

Dugan loves adventures and has greeted every dog along the way with his friendly ways. He is strong, and a fast runner and does well at dog parks, beaches, hiking, walks in the neighborhood, going shopping, and car rides (LOVES CAR RIDES).

Things Dugan doesn't like or can make him nervous: beeps and loud noises scare him. Fire detectors (low battery beep even), not a fan of fire works or really loud live music (drums). He prefers to run on quieter streets, and will become distracted on busier streets during a walk or run, but it's not a fear, more of preference. Nothing else seems to upset him. He seems to love everything but those loud noises if they are very close by.

Dugan is an active adolescent boy who needs a fun and active home with another dog and NO cats.

Dugan recently came with us to a running event and he ran a 5k with his foster mom, coming in 2nd place for canine/human teams. He'd do so well as a running or hiking partner, or with doggy sports!

Please note, we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed, they are cared for in our network of wonderful foster homes throughout New England. If you find a dog you would like to meet, our expectation is that, once approved, you will travel to meet the dog in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
