My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome boy finds himself in need of a new home because his dad has a change in living arrangements which can not include Scout. We are heartbroken for Scout because we thought he finally had found his "happily ever after".

Scout is one of the most lovable canines there is! He is about 5 years old and is a 60 pound Boxer/ Plott Hound mix. Even though he was originally a southern dog, don't let that fool you because Scout loves the snow!

Scout is crate trained (using the command: ‘go to bed’). If he is left roaming the house he will help himself to the trash if left in his path. He will sometimes just crawl into his crate, especially if there’s a thunderstorm or fireworks going off. When other dogs are around, he eats in his crate.

Scout does need an active home, or a large yard to play in but you have to be aware that he is very prey driven so a fenced in yard is best. He learns new commands quickly, usually within 3-5 days. He is very treat motivated and learns the best when you have a good supply of treats nearby. Scout loves learning new things, here are some things he already knows:

Sit, Lay, and Wait. He is leash trained and walks by your side without pulling. He is just starting to learn to run by your side. He will get into his crate with the command, "go to bed" or jump on the human bed with "go to sleep." He loves to go for car rides, and will "shake", "turn around" and lay sideways on command. He gives kisses on command, and can be quite exuberant in his greetings so he might knock over a little child with his excitement, however he is very good with kids.

Scout has 2 other canine buddies that visit on a regular basis, a Boston Terrier and a German Shephard. Scout is not keen on sharing his food or toys with other dogs (however will not mind sharing with his humans).

Scout is too excitable with cats or small animals to live safely with them.

To apply to adopt this dog, please visit our web site to access our application and learn more about adoption through Lucky Pup Rescue, www.luckypuprescue.org, or request an application via email, luckypuprescue@yahoo.com.

Please note, we do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.

Thank you for considering rescue!
