Ellie's Story...
Meet Ellie! When we first met Ellie she was a stray puppy at Memphis Animal Services. We gave her the nick name "Snarls Barkley" because she appeared to be snarling at us, with a closer look we realized she was only smiling and the nickname stuck. Ellie soon went to live with her foster mom, her teenage sons, and their other doggies. One morning of an adoption event Ellie was in the back yard romping around with her foster siblings when mom heard a squeal. We aren't exactly sure what happened but Ellie somehow injured her leg or reinjured an old injury. Turns out she fractured her growth plate. So no adoption event for Ellie and a broken leg, double whammy. Because Ellie was a growing, entergetic puppy-healing took some time and she missed out on a few great forever homes along the way. Now she is all better and cast free, it's her time to shine. Ellie is about 6-8 months old now, and about 30 lbs. We expect her to stay on the smaller end of things.. She is the happiest little girl, she doesn't meet a stranger and her booty is constantly wiggling. Her foster mom calls her piglet because she makes funny little snorts when she's happy. She will take on the energy level of her surroundings; if you are lounging on the couch, she's right there with you, if other dogs are playing she wants in on that too. Ellie is current on vaccines and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $450 and includes her spay, microchip, all yearly vaccines and deworming, and transport from her Tennessee foster home to you via a professional rescue dog transport.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ellie, a Rochester Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Rochester, or seeking a Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Rochester.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rochester already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rochester breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rochester paves the way for another one to be saved.
