Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Josh: 10-year-old male chocolate Lab 65 lbs
Need a hiking buddy? This wonderful lab is a walker’s dream. He currently lives in a very active household with teenagers abound and a 2-year-old lab… he does his very best to keep up with all the action. Josh is being surrendered as his family just isn’t around enough to see to Josh’s needs.
What Josh’s owner says: He needs to have people around, as he tends to bark if left outside for long periods of time. He does fine in the crate; this is his calm and quiet place, but we hate to leave him in the crate for long periods of time – it is just not fair to him. When we are with him, he is easy, calm and likes it indoors. He will lay on his bed and let you know if he want to go out. He is great on walks and really good with children. He knows a bunch of commands: sit, stay, down, take it, leave it, come and treat/walk. He is not a fetcher but will follow you around out in the yard. And he loves to go on walks and hikes.
What Josh’s Rescue Rep says: Josh would be tremendous in a home with or without kids. Josh is really good with other dogs. However, if he is left home alone, the presence of a second dog doesn't ease his anxieties. We are looking for a family where an adult is around most of the time to address Josh’s separation anxiety. If you have cats, he is not the dog for you – unless you want to get rid of the cats. Josh is neutered, current on all shots, and microchipped. He is located in Castro Valley.
If you are interested in Josh, call Rescue Rep Dave 415-686-4248.
(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
