Steve-O's Story...
Well hello again, some of you might remember me I've been here before. My name is Steve-O, I am a 2.5 year old, tan and white, neutered male lab mix. I was here at the shelter about 2 years ago. I was just a pup then and didn't have a whole lot of cares in the world. Now though my time away has had it's ups and downs. Originally I was adopted into a nice home with good people but their lives changed after a while and I was no longer welcome because my new mom got pregnant. I'm not sure why I couldn't just be a big brother to a new sister or brother but instead of helping me learn how to be around a little human I was given away. The new home I found myself in didn't work out either so I was given away again. The newest home I found myself in was not so great either. I was left on a chain outside in the backyard. I also seem to have not gotten enough to eat because the Doctor I saw last said I lost almost 20 lb since my last visit. I got out and was picked up by Animal Control because a guy w as afraid of my kisses and actually thought I was gonna hurt him! Silly guy didn't know all I wanted to do was say hi. Well thankfully they brought me back here to the shelter where I am already starting to look a little better. I am luckily getting another shot at finding a new home because I know it's only the lucky ones who do. I still love to play and really enjoy snuggling. I am a little protective about my food right now so please be understanding of me I'm just that hungry! If you think you could find room in your heart, your home and your couch I would be eternally grateful for a forever home with you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Steve-O, a Murphysboro Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Murphysboro, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Murphysboro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Murphysboro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Murphysboro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Murphysboro paves the way for another one to be saved.
