My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nootka is a very affectionate and healthy 3 year old boxer-pit mix. She loves her people and her dog friends the most. Nootka has completed a number of obedience courses including puppy school, beginner dog training classes and intermediate dog training classes. She knows all her basics (sit, stay, down, come) as well as a number of tricks, which she will happily do for a toy or ball. Nootka loves to play ball, swim, and tug, and will never grow tired of games. She is great with older children who are familiar with dogs. Nootka has trouble meeting new dogs and people on her leash, and will often bark or growl out of fear. However, Nootka has responded very well to positive reinforcement training, and now with the right cues will play with her tug instead of barking at other dogs. We are looking for the right owners for Nookta, who understand that she has her limits when it comes to playing with other dogs. We are offering to pay for a one-on-one positive reinforcement training course for her new owners through Dizine Canine in Vancouver (http://www.dizinecanine.com) or another positive-reinforcement based trainer in your area. Nootka is incredibly smart, and very driven by play, and loves to learn.

Nootka is an incredibly affectionate dog who loves to snuggle, have her belly rubbed, and be with her people more than anything else in the world. Nootka is trained to stay at home during the day while her owners are at work (up to 8.5 hours) with no problems at all. When you get home from work she will wiggle her whole body and dance for you in circles for you with her favourite toy, or try to give you a million puppy kisses. Nookta has her dog friends, but care needs to be had when she is introduced to new dogs. She will do best if she is introduced to new dogs in a non-competitive environment (i.e. no toys or food around to compete over). Nootka is not happy around cats, or other animals, but is very smart and may do well with the right animal companion.

Nookta is currently covered by a comprehensive pet insurance plan through Trupanion. that can be transferred to the new owners. If interested in learning more about Nootka, please contact Lindsay: lindzor@gmail.com
