My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cody is a young beagle, around 2 years old. Cody was found in a town north of Houston and no one ever came looking for him. Luckily, a Good Samaritan took care of him until HBHR could pick him up and give him a second chance. Cody was heartworm positive when we obtained him, and he had a split treatment over a two month period. He sailed through the treatment with no problems. He also seems to have an old injury to his left rear leg. He will hold it up on occasions, but it does not seem to bother him. At 15 + inches, this boy is a solid muscular 30 pounds.

Cody is most likely a beagle mix, but his behaviors are all beagle. He is a wonderful boy, very playful and very loving. He can be playful when he has a willing playmate and he is calm when there is no one for him to play with. He is a young boy, and not completely over the chewing stage, but can be trusted in the house alone, if all shoes are put up and out of his reach. He likes stuffed squeaky toys, he will play with them for a while, then will set out to do what beagles do with stuffed animals, de-stuff them and kill the squeaker. He will chase a toy or ball, but will not always bring it back. Cody loves to chase, roll and wrestle with a willing playmate.

Cody gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home. He plays with those that want to play, and is very respectful of those that have no interest in playing. He is currently living with a large and wild young lab, and can hold his own with her rough play.

He loves snuggle time on the couch with his foster parents. He will snuggle close and allow you to love on him as long as you like. He loves to go on walks and gets very excited when the harness and leash come out. He does pull a bit while walking, but will come back to you when you stop walking. He gets excited when he sees other dogs, and cats, but does not get vocal.

Cody is crate trained, but does not like to be in the crate. He will go into the crate for a tasty treat, but he will try to avoid being crated. He is good in the house if there are no shoes left out, and was only crated for a short time at this foster home. He now has free reign at his foster home while his foster parents are at work.

Cody is house trained with the use of a doggie door. He is not 100% yet, but he is working on it. Cody does not like when it rains, and during the recent almost constant rain, he did not want to get his feet wet, and had a few accidents. Cody likes to sleep with his foster family at night. He will snuggle in and not move all night. Cody would love to have a family, that will spend time playing with him and loving him. He would love to have a playful playmate, as well. If you think this sweet boy will fit in with your family, please fill out an application so you can meet his.
