My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated Bio 9/7/15. Billy is an amazing, sweet boy. He is probably about 4 1/2 years old. He now weighs 10.6 pounds. Billy Boy is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.

It's almost all good news for Billy. He has gained a whole pound and he is healing perfectly. The surgeon removed his stitches and gave him a great report. Everything is healing as it should. Everyone at the surgical clinic commented on how much better he looked. His bones are not sticking out so much and he is about as happy a boy as can be. Another pound or two and he will be perfect.

For Billy the not so good news is still 4 more weeks of crate restriction. After that he has two more weeks where he can come out of the crate for a little while as long as he does no running or jumping. Finally on October 15th the 8th week post surgery he is scheduled for his, hopefully, final vet visit. He will have X-rays taken of the repair and if all is good he will be released. He will, at last, be able to stretch those long legs of his and be ready to go to his forever home.

Billy longs to run and jump and play with his foster brother and sister. He loves to sit on his foster mom and dad's lap as long as no other dogs are around. Then he just wants to go play with them, but he can't, not yet anyway. He also loves to give kisses.

Billy will walk nicely on the leash unless another dog is out with him and then he wants to play, so he usually goes out with his foster mom or dad without the other dogs around. He knows he lives in his crate and sadly walks into it. Foster Mom and Dad are as anxious as Billy for the day he does not have to be crated all the time and can join the group.

He's a great eater and sleeper and does great in the car . Billy would be a wonderful dog for a family that will give him lots of love and attention and tons of playtime. He wants to be around other dogs and would love a fenced yard to run around in or be taken to the dog park to have lots of playtime and running around time with other dogs and maybe even some older kids.

Once again Billy wants to thank everyone who donated to his surgery and sent him well wishes. Without all of you this wonderful dog would not have made it. As always United Yorkie Rescue is so appreciative for all our donors. With your continued help we can save so many other Billy's and give them that second chance at a great life.

Updated Bio 8/21/15 Billy had his surgery and the prognosis is very good for a full recovery after 2 months of rest and healing.

It was quite an extensive and expensive surgery. He had two plates and 6 screw implanted in him. He will need to be crated and keep quiet for up to 8 weeks. Right now he also has a cough that his surgeon feels is due to the fractured ribs. He is on antibiotics, and pain medication, so whatever it is or caused it, it will get better. His ribs will heal slowly along with the repair.

He remains the sweetest boy. So patient and good. He has handled all that has happened to him with such courage and grace.

The pictures show his sad tale, but life is now on the up-swing for this boy. He has found a safe place to get well, both physically and emotionally.

United Yorkie Rescue took a chance on this fellow, and I am so happy to say he deserved it. Watch for updates and pictures as he continues to heal and his hair grows back.

For all of you who donated to his surgery, we can't thank you enough, and to everyone who wished him well, thank you so much for that, too. It was so nice to know how many well wishers he had and so many who were pulling for his recovery.

Updated Bio 8/17/15 Billy had his first appointment with his surgeon today and it was good news. The air in his chest caused by the fractured and trauma to his ribs is almost gone. The ribs will heal slowly without much further treatment.

More good news-- the surgeon is pretty positive he can repair the fractured pelvis. It should be almost as good as new. There are some bone fragments loose in the area, but they will be removed and it should not effect the repair. Billy will also be neutered during the surgery.

The bad news for Billy is that after the surgery he will have to be confined to crate rest for at least 8 weeks. And once he starts to feel better that will be hard. But it is only through no activity that his ribs and his fractured pelvis will heal completely.

This life saving surgery comes at a cost. It is a long, involved, and expensive surgery. Once again United Yorkie Rescue is asking for your kindness and for your help to help us cover the cost of Billy's surgery. Without it, Billy would most likely not be alive today. United Yorkie Rescue is so happy we could give Billy this second chance at a long, happy, and healthy life. Please help us so we can continue to help Billy and the many other dogs that need us. Anything you can give will be very appreciated by Billy and by United Yorkie Rescue.

Initial Bio. 8-16-15 Meet Billy, our saddest new foster boy. Billy is a beautiful, silver colored Yorkie mix, probably a Schnauzer-Yorkie (Schnorkie). He is about 5 years old. He weighs a very skinny 9 pounds. Billy is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.

Billy was just days away from being euthanized at the shelter if someone did not step in and save him. And once again United Yorkie Rescued answered the call. Billy was hit by a car and he will need immediate expensive surgery if he is ever to walk and play again. He has several fractured ribs and a fractured pelvis on his left side. Billy will be seeing the veterinary surgeon as soon as possible for a consult. We will then learn what will be involved to fix his ribs and his pelvis him and how much is will cost. We already know that this is going to be a very expensive surgery, but this boy has already shown he is so worth saving.

He is so sweet. He is very friendly and loving and does not seem to have a mean bone in his too skinny body. He is in pain even though he is on pain medication. This brave boy has not whined or complained one bit and he has to be hurting with all that is wrong.

United Yorkie Rescue took a chance and saved his little fellow, but once again we can't do it alone. We are reaching out to you to find it in your hearts and in your pockets to dig down and help us get Billy the surgery he desperately needs. Billy is not asking for much, he is just trying to have some more years added to his young life, Please help this baby to get his surgery, to stop hurting, and to have the life he deserves.

We do not know much more about Billy. He is quietly resting in his crate waiting for the pain to stop. When Billy has seen the surgeon we will update his bio.

Please click on that donate button and let's give Billy his life back.
