Al's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.

Al's Story...
Al was turned into a shelter with a female adult Border Collie mix, Peg and a 10 week old puppy. He is a fairly solid male BC mix, with a black and white face, freckled legs and a bushy tail. He has been neutered and microchipped, is heart worm negative, on flea, tick and heart worm prevention and is current on all his vaccinations. He is crate and leash trained and for the most part house-trained. The vet guessed on his age as three years old but he has an awful lot of puppy still in him so I think he is younger than that.

Al can be very active, but for the most part is very laid back. He loves to run and play with both Peg and our BC Hurley. He uses his mouth quite a bit while playing with the other dogs and occasionally while playing with humans. His mouthiness has always been playful but he will need an owner who is willing to continue to teach him not to use his mouth with people. Al gets along very well with other dogs and rides well in the car. He loves to play with toys, in fact all the chew toys in our house seem to end up in Al’s crate.

Al is very submissive to humans. He shows signs of being abused in the past. He will quickly roll over on his back and will cower and pee if spoken to in too stern of a voice. He takes correction very well but his new owner will need to use gentle tones.

He likes to lounge on the furniture and will usually try at least once a day. He is a sweet and loving dog who wants to be loved and to show love back. He has come a long way but will still need work on his manners. He is just as comfortable sleeping on the floor next to my wife as she works or laying on the floor of my shop as he is running around the yard. Being a mix, he has no herding instinct and is fairly tolerant of noise

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Al, a Oliver Springs Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Oliver Springs, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Oliver Springs.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oliver Springs already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oliver Springs breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oliver Springs paves the way for another one to be saved.
