Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello! My name is Boris and I am a 30 year old Yellow-Nape Amazon. My foster Mom says that I am a big, gorgeous bird! As you can see, my beak is a bit long, I don't have any trouble eating though and the vet said she didn't want to trim it, but instead, let me file it down naturally through the use of toys and perches. It is long because I was previously on a seed diet and my liver enzymes are a bit elevated, but with good food, fresh air, and plenty of sunshine, she said that my blood work will straighten out very soon! I am now enjoying a diet of healthy pellets, fresh vegetables, chop, fresh fruits, and healthy nuts, so this has been a real treat - this is a diet that I should be on for the rest of my life. I love to talk, my vocabulary is huge and I pick up new words very easily. I can say Boris, Hi Boris, Bye Bye, come here Boris, come here, where we going, and I also say my previous owners name, Netta. It doesn’t just stop with just words though, I also whistle! I also enjoy listening to quiet music, hearing people sing (I love to try and sing along), being talked to, and I love to practice talking and will mumble words. I especially like trying to carry on a conversation with you if you come over and talk with me. Before I came to Florida Parrot Rescue, I wasn’t let out of my cage much in the last 2 years, so I was pretty scared when I first got here, but I am warming up to my foster Mom now - I just need time to adjust to new situations, is all! I am still working on stepping up from the cage, but I will step up for you after gliding down to the floor. I do seem to prefer women, in fact, I was only with a woman for my entire life, but I will take a treat from a man’s finger – I mean, come on, it is food! I also do not mind other animals being in the home, I actually find them very entertaining, just remember that I am fragile and it is your job to keep me safe! I am really looking forward to having a family of my own again, maybe that could be you? Please come meet me very soon so we can see if we are right for each other!
