9/24/2015 - Toby has been seen by the opthalmologist and is on eye drops for his left eye for retinal inflammation. He is responding well to those drops and does not need a follow up for six months unless there are problems of some sort. He is doing very well!
8/30/15 - Ok, I’ll just start off by letting you know that I realize that I am not the most adoptable pup in the world. My old eyes aren’t so perfect and my hearing, well let’s just say that it leaves a lot to be desired. Heck, what do you expect, I’m 13 years old. Don’t let my age and lack of sight and hearing scare you away, because I’m not ready to check out, just ready to check into a new home.
If you are wondering why my last owners surrendered me to animal control, let’s just say that the fact that I’m still a cute Yorkie could not hold up against the two new dogs that they got. Out with the old, in with the new. They had to know how petrified I would be on the cold concrete floor without them. You wouldn’t want your children to just “put you out” once you are getting older and need more? Well, I hate to hold a grudge, but I hope that is exactly what happens to my previous mom and dad.
I know what you’re thinking, “Why adopt this dog, he’s old, deaf and blind”. Well, this is your chance to really “adopt” and “rescue” a poor lost soul that gets around fine and loves to sit in a lap and just be touched by gentle human hands. I may be lacking in two of my senses, but my heart works fine and I will love you unconditionally if given the chance.
If you are able to provide this sweetheart with a home, love, food, and a comfy place to sleep, then please fill out our online adoption application. He may not be the one who is going to greet you at the door wagging his tail and ready to give you kisses, but he is one that really deserves another chance at a life that he missed out on at the hands of some really COLD, HEARTLESS humans.
8/16/2015 - Toby was just picked up today by his foster mom, so we don't know a lot about him as yet.
His previous owners contacted animal control to come and get him because they didn't want him any more. :( Seems they had two new pups and no time for Toby. They turned his vet records in with him .. he has not seen a vet since 2008.
His teeth are a mess and he is in need of a dental and most likely will need to see an opthamologist. His eyes are cloudy and it looks like one has a detached lens. We don't think he can see or hear. :( Praying that he will be heartworm negative. He was not on prevention. :(
Foster mom groomed him and he was an angel throughout it all! He is a very sweet boy! We will post more as we know more about him.
