My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Monte was with the same family in NY until he turned 6 years old, and then his owners decided to take him to Hempstead animal shelter in Wantaugh NY and left him there, asking the stuff to "put him to sleep because he was just too big". Yes, unfortunately to say, that was the only reason why Monte was dumped at the shelter and it was asked for him to be put too sleep. Without a valid reason for Monte to be put down, the shelter listed Monte for adoption. After 4 months at the shelter and at this point at the risk of being euthanized, we decided it was time for us to get involved and get Monte out of the shelter. Monte is up to date with his shots and neutered. He is very tolerant with kids however because of his size we do recommend a home with older kids. If properly introduced and given the appropriate time, Monte does get along with other dogs and he is also good with cats. Since we noticed Monte had some hip pain when we got him out of she shelter, we did have Monte checked and he does have a little bit of arthritis in his hips, due to his age of course. Monte also had a full blood panel and was tested for cancer and lyme disease. Everything came out normal and we do not anticipate Monte having any major health issues.
