Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi everybody! My name is Colette. I'm a 2-year-old spayed female German Shepherd mix. I am approximately 46 pounds of pure beauty and grace!
Don't let my stunning good looks fool you into thinking I'm just another pretty face, though. I'm as sharp as a tack and eager to learn! I already know how to sit and I'm looking forward to learning many more tricks once I'm in my new home.
As I'm sure you saw from my video, I'm a pretty affectionate girl. I love giving kisses to all my human companions here! It's my way of thanking them for saving my life.
In July, I was brought to a local high-kill shelter as a stray. I was terrified and very unsure of my surroundings. As a general rule, all newcomers get an initial exam to determine if they are sick or injured, but I'll be honest, the veterinarian had a very difficult time with me. I was so timid and very uncomfortable with being touched. I wasn't hostile, just very skittish.
Once I had been examined, I was put out in the yard in a run of my own. I couldn't believe what kind of place I had found myself in. It was loud and chaotic and definitely not where I needed to be.
I spent most of my time hiding in my cubby. I shied away from those that wanted to help me and turned my back on interested parties. I was so avoidant that I eventually found myself "red listed." In case you aren't familiar with that term, it meant that I could have been euthanized at any time because my chances of being adopted were so slim. It's sad, but people usually don't adopt dogs that don't show any interested in getting to know them.
I'm a very lucky pup, though. One of the adoption coordinators here has a soft spot for shy dogs. She begged and pleaded with a volunteer at the shelter to pull me. She just knew that once I was away from that scary place that my true personality would shine through. Thankfully, the volunteer agreed that if there was any chance of me finding a loving family, I needed out of the shelter immediately! So here I am! And let me tell you, I couldn't be happier.
I am a completely different dog than the one at the shelter. Now I wag my tail and greet people when they approach me. I lean into my human companions and ask for pets whenever I get a chance. I am happy, energetic, loving and very excited to find a forever home! Do you think you're the family for me?
I'll tell you a little about what I am looking for in a family. I'm still young and playful so I would love to find an active family. One that will enjoy spending lots of time with me and doing all types of exciting activities. It's obviously important that my new family likes doggy kisses, too!
If you think I would make a great addition to your home, please don't hesitate to contact CageFree and tell them you want to schedule a time to come out and meet me. I can't wait to start my new life!
