My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a dog that simply enjoys life from the moment he wakes up in the morning to the moment he goes to bed? One that wants to be by your side-have his eye on you when you are there-but not need to stick to you like glue? A dog that listens, is respectful of the furniture, goes to bed when asked, loves the car, loves walks , loves the water(especially when it is really hot outside), loves outing s in the woods, loves cuddling, well as said simply Loves life.
Well meet Duke. A 3-4 year old 60 pound pittie mix. Duke has been very patiently waiting for you. He has been at an animal shelter since November but because of being confined for such a long period of time was becoming very anxious. The shelter realized Duke needed a foster home so his true personality would come through and they were right. Ever since Duke arrived at his foster home he has been nothing but relaxed and have we said happy, happy, happy??!!!! He is living with a female pit bull and they are both respectful of each others space but when it is play time, they play, play, play.
Duke’s history is sketchy but he was left chained outside for very long periods at a time. But being the resilient pup that he is, that is all behind him, and he has evolved into the happy go lucky pup he is. He just asks that when you first meet him you respectfully don't get right in his face.
Duke loves to learn and responds really well to positive reinforcement training. Duke is a true gentleman, he has manners …which is hard to come by these days!!! He is crate trained, house trained and a simply a good dog. He loves to play, loves to play fetch….tennis balls are his favorite. He’s waiting for your call!!

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
