My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated on 10.8.15

Simba is a 5 1/2 year old, blue-brindled Great Dane/Mastiff mix. He weighs a healthy 133 lbs.

Simba was surrendered with his brother after they became too much for their owners to care for. Simba has lived the majority of his life outside or in the garage.

Simba has adjusted well to home life.

First, he lived with a dog trainer where he met female Great Danes and did very well with them.

He now lives with his foster momma for the past few weeks. He lives with his 2 canine (Great Dane) brothers and is doing very well.

It is important for Simba to have slow introductions to new canine siblings. Thereafter, he does very well with them.

He is great with cats.

He’s very good with older kids (age 8 and above).

He is house-trained.

He is crate-trained. He is highly likely to do well do fine as a free roaming dog in the house.

His foster momma free-feeds her dogs and Simba. He has proven to be trust-worthy (no food aggression) while eating with his foster canines. He has done well with scheduled meals in the past.

Simba has met multiple people (men, women & kids) and is friendly to everyone. He does have a tendency to be a little unsure but give him a few minutes of encouragements and he’d do great.

Simba knows his commands and does well with: Sit, Wait, Get Back, Off, Leave It, Go Crate, and Go Pee.

He does well with the leash, flat collar and/or harness. Pinch and choke collars are NOT recommended for him as they tend to have the opposite affect on him due to the pinch/choke collars causing him pain.

He likes to take walks but he actually prefers to be in the house with his foster family.

He has a tendency to cry when left alone. However, he does not cry if his foster brothers are crated next to him.

Simba loves his foster family and he will also love his future forever family, too.

Once he learns his routine, he’s feeling much comfortable, wags his tail, begs to be petted and enjoys accepting treats.
