Here's what the humans have to say about me:
SPENCER - Beagle mix, male, 2 years old. Spencer is very sweet and loving, with excellent house manners and a real fun spirit He loves walks, is good with other dogs and is a playful, social fellow, but, he is also a bit of a complicated fellow. You see, for all his good manners, Spencer can be anxious and is a dog that really does best with a set daily schedule, which is why he is being returned. Spencer's family really loves him but they are a busy home whose schedule changes daily, and Spencer needs more predictability in his life. Having a smart, sensitive dog like Spencer is generally a good thing - Spencer bonds strongly with his person, he is quick to learn and knows many tricks, like sit, down, stay and paw - he can even jump up like Tigger! But sometimes those smart, sensitive dogs need a little extra attention and they will find their own way to get it. For example, Spencer has learned that if he rolls over on his back each time someone walks by, he's sure to get a belly rub, but he's also figured out that taking things (like towels and shoes) and not giving them back is another way to get attention. We told you he was smart! He will happily trade his prize for a treat, but, he needs a forever home where he can be more secure and learn to seek attention in more positive ways. Because of his thieving ways we can not place him in a home with children (although he is very good with them), and we do not know how he is with cats, but we think he may do well with a dog savvy cat. He loves dogs and people, he is a cheerful dog at heart.
* If you are interested in adopting this dog, you must first complete an adoption application at http://peppertree.org/adoptapp.php. Or visit our site (http://peppertree.org/adoptlist.php) and learn about other Peppertree dogs. *Note: visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
