My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dallas, a 7-9 year old black chihuahua with Rover Rescue of IL. Unlike most Rover Rescue dogs who come from southern Indiana, Dallas is a local guy. He was found in Kendall County and ended up at the shelter. Dallas happened to be at the shelter at the same time as Peach, another chihuahua, who had a foster home coming for her. Once she learned of Dallas, she knew she couldn't leave him there knowing his chances for being adopted would be better once he was in a foster home.
Dallas arrived to his foster home and did great with all the dogs. He stuck close to Peach and made it clear to all the other dogs that he is not interested in rough play. If any of the visiting puppies start getting wild, Dallas will give that puppy a good stern lecture with a series of barks! This guy likes to have a calm environment :) Dallas has been around every type of dog - male & female, big & small, puppy & seniors and he does great with everyone. He lives with a cat and often shares the dog bed with him.
Dallas lives with 5 children ranging in age from 3 to 15 years and he is fine with all of them. He does not care for the visiting, grabby 1 year old infant and will leave the room to the safety of his dog bed in his foster mom's room. He is very nonconfrontational and just wants to hang out. He makes a great gardening friend - he is always up for some time hanging outside and enjoying our midwest summers.
Dallas has done some traveling with his foster family and does great in the car. He loves to watch the scenery change and after a while will settle nicely until he reaches his destination. He loved visiting the country this summer and did a great job transitioning to the big open land and being leash walked. He is calm around horses and shows no interest in the barn cats.
Dallas has earned the privilege of being loose in his foster mom's room when the family is gone. He is there at night too and has no issues sleeping through the night. He initially tried marking in the home the first day but it hasn't been a problem since. He makes a great companion dog especially with men. He was not found with Peach but the two of them have formed a friendship since being in foster care together.
Dallas is available for adoption and his fee has been reduced to $100. It is his foster mom's hope to keep him with Peach since they have become rather fond of each other. He is neutered, up to date on shots including bordetella and rabies. He has been microchipped. If you are interested in having this gentleman in your home, please call his foster mom, Teri, at 630-897-7454 for a phone interview. She will have some questions for you as well as answer any questions you have about Dallas!
