Say hello to Max! He came to ESRA when his owners moved and couldn't take him with them. This Velcro boy is a lover, and he likes to give kisses. He knows the commands Sit and Shake, and he takes treats gently. He likes toys with squeakers, and he enjoys playing ball, although he won't always bring the ball back. Max's build is stocky, and he is carrying a little bit of extra weight. He would benefit from losing about five pounds.
Smart and energetic Max will do best in a home in which his owners will provide structure and boundaries. An obedience class is recommended. He responds well to firm, gentle guidance. Max's foster mom says that he needs a job to do. Therefore, performance events such as agility, tracking, or dock diving would be right up his alley.
Max is selective about his interactions with other dogs, and he would prefer to be the only dog in the house. He doesn't have a selection meter for cats; he simply doesn't like them! Any children in Max's home should be at least ten years old, as he tends to jump up and could therefore knock over little ones.
His foster mom says that Max is a silly boy who wiggles on his back every day. She walks him daily, and she says that he is learning to act more like a gentleman on the leash. Max is on the verge of being a shining star of a Springer. If you would like to know more about this handsome guy, please contact his case managers at the e-mail address below.
Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Max.
