My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

As this little 6 lb, 10 year young guy spends a lot of time smiling, it seem appropriate to name him Smiley. Though he may be one of our "senior citizens" with not the best eyesight, he has a lot of life left in him. So anyone adopting him should be prepared to have him around for quite a long time!

His Foster Mom who likes fostering the calm seniors has complained that she can hardly keep up with him as he is so active. Now you see him, now you don't as he is up, he's down, he's here, he's there, he's playing with this toy, no that toy, he's inside, no he's just ran outside! His Foster Mom does love that he is not a big barker, however, when he does bark he makes people laugh as no yappy, little dog bark for Smiley, he has a big dog type bark.

Smiley is a "special needs" dog as he is blind in one eye and also has dry eye requiring drops every day which will eventually in future years lead to complete blindness. However, as is known, most blind dogs do not seem to know they are blind. It's amazing how quickly they adapt to new environments. So unless you redecorate your home every week, they have no problem getting around.

He also has a touch of arthritis which does not hold him back at all. As is the case with most Yorkies, he lets you know when he wants what he wants. He walks nicely on leash, in fact LOVES his walks and sleeps wonderfully well through the night.

If you are interested in Smiley, please complete the on-line application as he does not always attend the weekly adoption event at PETCO on Saturdays. You can also contact us for more information at: www.adoptmerescue@gmail.org.
