SODA's Story...
SODA (ID# A033679) is a stunningly handsome neutered male chocolate seal-point dwarf rabbit. He was about 1 year old when he came to the shelter in August 2015. Soda is very talkative and will let you know when he isn't pleased by making his "unhappy" noise. He's all talk though - he complains about being picked up, but he's actually easy to handle. He complains when you try to pet him, but he actually enjoys pets. Soda is fairly mellow and a little shy until he gets to know you. He cautiously and daintily takes treats from people. Soda has excellent litter box habits and will make a wonderful little addition to an indoor home with a family who understands, or is willing to learn, rabbit speak!

Please review this very informative rabbit intro video before you adopt:

STARTING THE ADOPTION PROCESS: You need to be 18 years or older, complete an application, and be interviewed. It is strongly recommended that all members of your household interact with the rabbit to make the best match for everyone, and that the rabbit you wish to adopt will be an indoor pet. You must be able to verify with your landlord that you may have a pet if you are renting. We reserve the right to deny the adoption of any pet for any reason. Also any additional requirements for the specific pet you are interested in adopting needs to be met. We adopt to the best home, not necessarily the first application turned in.

Applications are only accepted by FAX (949-366-4765), mail or in person. Sorry, no applications through the Internet. The adoption fee for rabbits is $45, which covers the following: spay/neuter, microchip, litter box training, copy of The House Rabbit Handbook, "New Owner" folder, bag of timothy hay and pellets, and one free basic health examination within 5 days of adoption from a veterinarian on our list.

Rabbits make excellent pets. They are intelligent, social animals capable of forming lifelong bonds with their human companions. Their playful antics will warm your heart for years to come. A well-cared-for house rabbit can enjoy a lifespan of seven to ten years or longer.

Please call 949-595-8899 to check if your desired pet is still available or the status of your application. Shelter Hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Sunday: Noon - 3:00 PM. We are CLOSED Mondays.

We are very proud of our shelter, it is clean, welcoming, freeway close, and was voted "Best Place to Adopt" by the Orange Coast Magazine!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

SODA, a San Clemente Dwarf was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dwarf for sale in San Clemente, or seeking a Dwarf from a breeder in San Clemente.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Clemente already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Clemente breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dwarf breeders who help with Dwarf rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Clemente paves the way for another one to be saved.
