Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet darling Paco! This striking white faced, marvelous middle ager came to WBCR with his sister Maya from a bad situation in a small Colorado town. He is a sweet, gentle, shy BC who, at 7 years old, is just starting to come out of his shell.
Paco is a timid fellow in many aspects right now. He is unsure when meeting new people, although very sweet once he has become more familiar with someone. He is just starting to learn about how wonderful people can be and beginning to soak up attention in his foster home. Tummy rubs are especially desired! He is quiet and independent, but can be sweet and cuddly especially in the morning on your bed. He is shy with strangers but very gentle. Raised in the shadow of his outgoing and bossy sister, it is likely Paco just got pushed aside. Although he is quite unsure when meeting new dogs, he is polite when meeting dogs of all size in person. However, he is very afraid of aggressive dogs behind fences! He will play with those dogs who are game when outside, although he can be quite herdy with other dogs. He shows no interest in toys yet. Paco is just fine with cats; he was raised with cats and is somewhat cat-like himself, appreciating unusual perches with commanding views. He loves walks and hikes. He is overall a pretty mellow fellow although he certainly loves a good run! At home he is very chill and likes to hang out in out-of-the-way places and relax.
Paco does also have some skills to brag about. He is house-trained and great in the car! And he’s becoming familiar with some of the basics in his foster home. It is clear he did not have much training in his former life so he will need an adopter willing to work with him teaching him the basics using gentle, force-free methods. He’s an intelligent and willing fellow and should be a pleasure to train! Like many BCs, Paco is very sensitive to loud noises (although thunder is ok), spooks easily and can bolt if he is off-leash. He is adapting to life in the city quite well, but will definitely need adopters committed to building his confidence overall, being such a shy and unsure fellow.
All in all, Paco is a kind soul. This special guy needs some confidence and one-on-one attention to bring out his best qualities! He will thrive in an environment apart from his sister, where he can be the star of the show, showered with love and attention, and develop into a confident, happy fellow. If you are looking for an underdog to help to blossom into a fine and affectionate companion, Paco may be the one for you!
Paco is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and living in a loving foster home in Fort Collins, CO.
