Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Jackson! This flashy, dashing young fellow is not just a pretty face. If you love a BC, this boy is the total package – smart, athletic, and eager to learn. He’s also got all the traits that make a dog like this a ton of work! He’s focused, intense, and very herdy. He will need lots of training, guidance, and direction. But if you have herding dog experience and are up for a project, Jackson may be the one for you.
Rescued from New Mexico, Jackson is a friendly fellow. He adores people, is affectionate, and loves being with his humans! He has been good with most new dogs, although reliably better with female dogs. He is far too herdy, however, to live safely with cats, chickens, horses, or children. Jackson enjoys toys and will play in the yard by himself actively attacking and growling at them. He loves getting out in the world for walks and hikes. He would enjoy life as a companion to an active outdoorsperson, dog sport devotee, or perhaps in a herding home. He’s active, but not ‘manic’ , and as a moderate energy BC will thrive with a good chunk of daily vigorous exercise daily.
Although he has a lovely temperament, Jackson has few skills. He is cratetrained, and is working on housetraining, but has few manners to speak of. He will need an adopter willing to work with him teaching him all the basics and beyond, exercise him physically as well as mentally, and direct him to appropriate outlets for his herding instincts. Jackson can also be quite guardy of his people around other dogs, and is uncomfortable being brushed on his hind end, so will need an adopter willing and able to work with him on both those issues.
All in all, Jackson has those qualities many of us BC lovers adore, and just oozes with potential. Given his traits, Jackson will only be placed in a home with BC or herding dog experience. In capable and knowledgeable hands, and with lots of time and energy, Jackson is sure to develop into an incredible companion.
Jackson is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and living in a loving foster home near Castle Rock, CO.
