My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Leo had a rough start and because of that he has learned to be afraid of everything until proven safe. He is hypersensitive to everything. Always on alert. At home he feels secure but if there is a different person or sound or smell he will be on guard with growling and or barking. He has gotten much better about new things as we've worked with him. We reward him each time he is inquisitive and chooses to slowly check things out instead of retreating.
He is a very sweet dog with his foster family since he trusts them. They do have family that he doesn't see often and he does really well with them being happy to see them right away. Leo would be best in a home without children.
He gets along with the fosters other dogs but can be possessive of people or treats. He has gotten much better but they are still working on this.
Leo needs a very understanding and patient home. He needs someone that knows how to work with animals in a loving manner.
Due to Leo's issues with new people and places, we will not bring him to our scheduled adoption events. If you would like to meet Leo, we can schedule a meeting in a more quiet environment.
