My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Minnie is a beagle/pug mix who is about 4 years old and weighs around 35 lbs. This sweet girl with the "puppy dog eyes" was rescued from a high volume kill shelter when she was far along in her pregnancy.

When she arrived, we noticed that her left front leg bent outwards when she walked. Come to learn, her shoulder was completely shattered!! We found fragments of buckshots in her xrays that now permanently reside in her body. Yes, she was used as target practice!! Not only that, there is evidence of once having broken ribs that have already healed on their own. We can't even imagine the horrible life this girl has so far endured! And this was NOT her first pregnancy either! Despite the major injury, she is NOT in pain any longer. She does walk funny to compensate for not having a shoulder socket but she doesn't hurt. If that leg ever started to cause problems (above and beyond arthritis), her leg would need to be removed for there is no surgical options for repair.

Minnie had her pups on 6/24 and now it's her turn to find a furever home. She still frightens easily so she needs a calm home to make her feel safe. We have no doubt she will come out of her shell more and more as time goes on. She may be ok with children who are calm around her or grand children who just visit..but living with them every day would be too much for her.

She is fine with other dogs; even is learning to play with them. She just needs a little time to realize a strange dog is ok but then she's fine. She is not harmful to cats but focuses on them too much so a home without any would be ideal.

She is working on house-training. She knows how to use the doggy door but she hasn't yet learned how to ask to go outside.

She has a very sweet demeanor. She's very quiet and would just love a family that is simply going to treat her with kindness and provide her a warm, safe home. A home she deserves!

If you are interested in adopting Minnie, please complete an adoption application located at
https://dogsunlimited.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application-for-dogs-unlimited-rescue/

All Dogs Unlimited Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and are given a monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Upon adoption, all vet records and any current medications are provided to the adopter.

THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ADOPTION NOR DOES IT OBLIGATE YOU TO ADOPT. Multiple applications are accepted for any available pet and a home is chosen that is the best match between the available pet and the potential furever family. Your application will be processed as quickly as possible and if approved, a home visit would be scheduled. No adoption is final until an Adoption Agreement is presented and agreed to by both parties.

Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are furever happy! Questions: email adopt@dogsunlimitedrescue.org

And THANK YOU for considering a rescue dog for your family!
