My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB April 22, 2015

Tabitha is a gorgeous little tabby girl. She’s playful and very curious, and loves to be in the middle of the action. She’s friendly, but with limits (to humans). She will lie on the bed or couch with you, either beside you or on you, and she loves to be around people, but she does not like to be touched or picked up (especially until she knows you better). We don’t know much about her history, as she was transferred to us from a local shelter. Her tail looks like it was possibly cut/injured somehow, and that could be why she is resistant to humans touching her. We really don’t know.
The first few days in foster care, she growled at us often and didn’t want our hands anywhere near her, but after two weeks the aggression has considerably lessened. If we go towards her slowly, and pick up lightly, she’ll let us move her to a different spot or even carry her to another room. You can’t pick her up like a normal cat though, you almost need to grasp her around the body and front legs, like if she was a bird, you’d grasp around its wings and feet. She needs to feel secure when being picked up, but not held too too tightly.
She is very playful, and keeps herself amused. She is fine with other cats and dogs, and enjoys other feline playmates. She mostly completely ignores the dogs at her foster home, and will only play with other cats who engage her.
She will probably not be suitable for a home with young children, as she DOES bite if she continues to get petted after she’s warned the person to stop. It’s not terribly hard, but to a child would probably be painful and cause injury.
She’s very food-motivated, so treats from the hand are a good way to get her to trust faster. And don’t leave your snacks unattended in a bowl on the counter. She’ll steal them!
Tabitha is a wonderful cat who really deserves a patient home where she can learn to trust fully. She is young and active and very happy when she’s just allowed to do her own thing and grow at her own pace.
Tabitha is now ready for her furrever home, one with lots of patience, attention and affection.
