Hello everybody! I'm Nate. I'm a 1-year-old neutered male Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. I weigh about 11 pounds.
I know there are a million Chihuahuas/Dachshund mixes out there, but none of them are as great as I am. I'm a sweet, loving, super friendly pup who enjoys being around all my human companions. I like hanging out with other dogs, too! I'm inquisitive, energetic, and playful, and I'm always happy. My tail never stops wagging!
I'm guessing you want some background info on me. Am I right? Well here is what's known. I was brought into a local high-kill shelter as a stray. It was immediately apparent that I had some type of injury to my backside. I wasn't putting any weight on my rear right leg. The vet took X-rays and discovered that I had fractured my femur. Did I mention that I was also flea infested? Yuck!! I was not in good shape!
I was put on cage rest and given pain medication for the fracture. Their hope was that someone would come along and rescue me from the shelter so that I could see an orthopedic specialist. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I spent exactly 2 months in the shelter before CageFree heard about me and pulled me from the pound. By that point, my fracture had already healed abnormally. Don't be alarmed, though. I get around just fine and I'm no longer in any pain. I just have a slightly abnormal gait. I can run, play and jump just like any other dog and believe me, I do!
I'm looking for an active family as I still have a lot of puppy energy to burn. I'm also hoping that my new family would want to take me with them everywhere. I'm the perfect size for travel and it would be great to spend so much time with my loved ones.
