My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DICKENS/GRUMMAN is a 1 1 /2 year ol neutered black male Lab who weighs 53 pounds. He is doing well in his foster home, he is the typical pup who is curious and into everything. He is a happy pup who likes everyone he meets and his tail is always wagging. He loves to play with the fosters pup and that's a good thing as they wear each other out. He is curious about cats who told him you don't chase me once and he now listens. Good with other dogs. Good with cats. Knows sit, down and come, working on other commands. He will have a training addendum as he is a young pup and needs some additional training Pulls a bit on lead, better with an Easy Walk Harness. Crate trained and house trained. Dickens/Grumman is approved for kids ages 8+.

Update (9/23)Grumman here. I had a fun time today in downtown Bethesda with my foster family getting to see all of the people and dogs. I love hanging out with my human foster brother! This town is really hopping! I stayed calm, cool, and collected even with all the attention I was getting. Looking forward to what tomorrow brings.

Update (9/21): Grumman and I got home a couple of hours ago from the vets' office. He did ok in the car but was so excited to be out of the kennel that he couldn't lay down. The first thing he wanted when he got to my house was a big drink of water. Next a little exploring and a howdy to the cat. Luckily my son was home and was able to watch them while I tried to get my things out of the car. Well, Grumman was much more interested in what I was doing so I took him for a brief walk in the rain, just up and down the block. When I got back our cat (Grayson an 18 month old Siberian) and Grumman had an old fashioned stare down until the cat got bored and moved under a different piece of furniture and allowed the dog to pass. This took about 30 minutes. My son then took him out back and let him run in our fenced yard. When they got back in we had a little more cat/dog dancing but now they are each snoozing only 3 feet apart. Grumman is on the sofa next to me and the cat under the coffee table in front of the sofa. I expect they will be just fine together for the foreseeable future. Grumman is very sweet and is enjoying the squishy denim sofa in my family room.

Dickens was found at a partially burnt house with another dog - his owners had moved and didn't take them with them. They were taken to one of our vets by a rescuer who found them there.
