My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tracker is a 10 year old Golden who is as sweet as they come!

Tracker gets along great with his foster siblings, a dog and a cat. Tracker is also fine with his human siblings, a 7-year-old boy and a 19-month old toddler, as well as the various neighborhood kids who come and go.

Tracker is a true velcro dog, preferring to be where ever the people are. He's been left with free roam of the house and he has done really well, but he is also crate trained. When we come home, Tracker is there to meet us with a dog toy in his mouth! He loves to carry them around the house, but hasn't chewed any of them (or the kids' toys!).

Tracker parks himself right beside our toddler's high chair when it's dinner time but will only clean up the food that falls on the floor. He has never tried to take anything out of her hand. He doesn't mind sharing what falls on the floor with our dog, either!

When Tracker arrived at the shelter, he was covered in fleas. The fleas are gone but they did a number on his fur and skin. We are working on getting his skin back into shape but he is missing quite a bit of fur, especially on his back and tail.

Tracker recently had to have several teeth removed and a lump on his neck removed. He is patient when we change his bandage (he likes to roll around in the dirt so we've been keeping it covered unless he's inside). With time, good nutrition, proper bathing and a little TLC, he will be as handsome as ever in no time!

Tracker also needs some leash training. Since he was just neutered, we have to keep his walks short, but he would love to go on much longer treks. We think he would make a great hiking buddy! He does pull pretty hard and we have to watch so we don't get tangled up in the leash. He does know a few other commands including "sit" and "shake".

What Tracker is looking for is simple: Someone to love him, take him on walks, let him snuggle with them on the couch and give him a belly rub. If you think you can live up to this sweet boy's requests, let us know!
