Here's what the humans have to say about me:
DOB 1/13/13
Duke is a sweet, gentle boy. He was born into the ARF foster family along with his 7 siblings. He was adopted out with his sister, Dazy, when he was about 12 weeks old. They had a wonderful home where they were loved and well taken care of everyday. They lived with an older shepherd mix dog and 2 teenagers. Both Duke and Dazy where doted on and treated like royalty in their home. Unfortunately, a sequence of events displaced these precious babes.
Dazy and Duke found themselves returned to ARF and living in boarding. This was very stressful and scary. They were not use to the noise of a kennel or to other dogs. They also hadn't been exposed to many other people outside of their immediate family so all the strangers coming and going was very scary. It took a few weeks for them to settle in. Dazy was more jumpy than her brother, more leery. Duke warmed up first. He likes to reach out his right paw and touch you first to make sure you are safe. He loves to shake hands. He sits and lays down upon command. He walks very well on a leash. For a big boy he has very good manners.
So, it has been almost 2 months since Dazy and Duke were returned to ARF. They have been working on their socializing skills and will start attending some training classes soon. We want to get "them out there" for the exposure but still want to be careful. We do not want to set them up for failure. They DO NOT need to be adopted together. We think separating them is actually better.
