My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Vinnie is a Pit Bull Terrier-mix, male, 3.5 years of age.

A sociable, loyal, very sensitive, and affectionate dog, Vinnie genuinely loves people and lives to please them. Sweet-natured, somewhat serious-minded, and completely charming, this handsome boy craves companionship, and he’ll want to be included in daily family activities. Intelligent and inquisitive, a thinking dog (really), sometimes playful, and always water-loving (Vinnie loves water – like a Retriever), Vinnie needs regular physical activity and mental stimulation to stay fit and happy.

An all-in and wholeheartedly sincere, sometimes silly, always endearing little rascal whose fragile self-confidence means he isn’t always sure of what to expect from people, he can be reserved when encountering unfamiliar situations and meeting new people, but he looks to and relaxes quickly with guidance from “his” people. Earned-trust and sound leadership will go a long way in helping Vinnie to finally become the happy-go-lucky, confident boy we know he was born to be.

Well-behaved and always up for adventurous outings so long as it means he’ll be alongside his family members who he’ll be fawningly and faithfully devoted to, Vinnie is looking for a home with responsible, caring owners worthy of his trust and willing to set-him up for continued success by providing consistent leadership and lifelong companionship.

Intelligent with a high learning ability; Vinnie’s attended Training and Socialization classes at Dundee K-9 where he was an outstanding student who was quick to please and exceled in obedience. Vinnie loves being challenged and given an opportunity to learn new things, so not only will he benefit from training and socialization classes, but this will also be an excellent way to bond with him as well as to reinforce good canine manners.

Vinnie is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, moderately-active lifestyle. While we think he’ll get along well with a compatible, similar-sized dog he has been properly introduced to, particularly one of the opposite-sex, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption. Although Vinnie has been well-mannered around children of all ages and we won’t rule out a home with children, we’d prefer a home without young or highly active children at this time because of Vinnie’s need for structure and confidence boosting.

Vinnie is a Monroe SPCA adoptable dog who currently resides at The Monroe County Animal Control Shelter located at 911 S. Raisinville Rd, Monroe, MI (just south of the fairgrounds).
