"Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof...because I'm happy. Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth...because I'm happy. Clap along if you know what happiness is to you...because I'm happy. Clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do."

And he's HAPPY.....This word comes up a lot when people meet our little guy Deakle. Deakle is a black Schipperke/Pomeranian mix weighing in at 15 pounds and is around 2-3 years old. Foster mom says his personality is that of a much younger playful boy though. While we don't know about Deakle's past life or how he ended up in a crowded shelter, we do know that he is sweet, friendly, loving, and full of joy. He loves everyone he meets, loves playing with other dogs, and he even likes the resident cat!! Deakle loves a good game of fetch and could probably outlast his humans which would clearly make him the marathon winner.

Deakle is learning all kinds of new things that come along with being a well loved and cared for indoor pooch. He is very well behaved in his crate and his foster mom says he is working very hard to get the potty training thing down. He's only been in foster for a short time so with his 'eager to please' personality we have no doubts this too will be mastered in no time at all. His small stature and outgoing characteristics make him quite the versatile friend. Lots of fun and games balanced with quiet snuggles and cuddles (he makes a great lap pup).

Our happy go lucky boy is already neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and current on preventatives. Deakle is ready to become a permanent member of an equally loving and happy home. So clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do...cuz he's happy!

PLEASE REMEMBER: The specific breed of any dog abandoned to shelter is the best guess by seasoned rescuers in accord with our veterinarians.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
