My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DUKE is a 2 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 50 pounds. Duke was a stray taken in by a person who was not capable of taking care of him properly. Social services contacted a shelter volunteer to assist. Duke was fostered by the shelter volunteer and did very well in the foster home with 5 other dogs. He was also tested with cats and is cat friendly! Duke has a submissive, friendly temperament and an average active energy. He is a great Frisbee catcher!!! He is good with children but because of his size and energy, is best with older children who might not be knocked down so easily. From the transporter #1: Duke is a sweet, compact boy. He is very energetic but traveled well. He liked to lay his head in my lap for ear rubs. I tried to take a few pictures of him but he just wanted to lick the camera and then get back to sniffing stuff. Duke saw some squirrels and watched them intently but did not bark. From the transporter #2: Sweet, poor Duke! He didn’t make a peep the whole ride, even though he couldn’t maneuver well in the crate with his cone on. He was very interested to see the other dogs while we waited at the vet, but he was calm and quiet while he waited. He’s a catch! He is approved for kids 10+

Update (10/6): Duke is a sweet little guy. He gets along great with the resident lab. He enjoys racing around the backyard and wrestling with her. He LOVES playing with toys of all kinds and gnawing on bones. Duke appears to be house trained and crate trained. He has been sleeping in the crate at night, by choice. He walks well with an easy-walk harness. Duke likes to hang out with his humans, frequently lying on or by my feet. He tries very hard to please you. He knows sit and we are working on off.
