Beau is a very handsome Irish Setter mix that was pulled from Indianapolis Care and Control when his family could no longer afford his vetting expenses. We knew when we saw him that we could help him and we have and he is doing GREAT!! Beau's issues were complicated by an undiagnosed Lyme disease infection that was missed by the typical 4DX snap test. Our Indiana vet uses the better IFA Serology testing and when that was found and with a good course of antibiotics, his mange started to clear up and some medicated baths and good food has helped his coat grow back.
Beau has the typical silly Setter personality -- is very playful and is friendly with all the dogs he meets. He is also very affectionate. The best adopter for Beau will be able to continue his Lyme testing and treatment as he is incurable and might have a relapse that will get better with follow up meds. We have many dogs in our program that are living long into their teens with thoughtful vetting for their tick borne disease.
