Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Checkers! We know mom is a small black lab and-- looking at her long, wiry hair-- dad could be a wire-haired terrier. Since this is just a guess, only those willing to take pot-luck in terms of her ultimate breed and size should apply!
Checkers is one of the smartest and most outgoing of the litter, and ready for a game any time! She has typical puppy energy, and will need regular exercise as well as someone to just spend time playing with her. If you are ready to be challenged to a game of Checkers, this is the girl for you. Just be prepared for her to always be one move ahead!
Because she is so small (under 7 pounds) and so young (10 weeks on10/1), Checkers needs to go to a home where someone is home part or all of the day to get her potty-trained and keep her socialized. Puppy obedience school is also required, once she is old enough.
You can meet Checkers at her current foster home, Wilmette Pet Center, 625 Green Bay Rd., during normal store hours (847-251-6750, www.wilmettepetcenter.com) Though you may want to take her home on the spot, please know you will first have to go through our normal application process.
Her estimated date of birth is 7/24/15, and her adoption fee of $375 includes: vet exam, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, bordetella vaccination, microchip, fecal exam, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm preventative and spay.
