My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update from Domino’s foster family:

Domino is doing amazing!! She is an absolute love. She’s so gentle and affectionate. Loves to give kisses and wiggles to show her appreciation. The children love to snuggle her and she loves all the attention. She doesn't bother the cat or ferrets and is doing really well with the dogs. She hasn’t had a single accident and hasn’t got into anything when we leave her home alone. Her house manners have been perfect. She walks really well on a leash and now that it’s cold out she does her business pretty quickly so we can get back home (and get to the morning rush to get to work – us of course lol). Even Grandpa (who’s tough to please) adores her.

So sad to say but if Domino was patterned, red, white or blue she would have plenty of applications but because she’s black there haven’t been any yet.

******Black dog syndrome is defined as the low adoption and high euthanasia rate of black dogs. Black dogs are often the last to be adopted from shelters and Rescues. Whether it is due to poor lighting in photography, looking "plain”, looking "mean" or that they are difficult to see in their kennels, black dogs are statistically passed over consistently more than dogs of other colors or dogs with markings. Statistics show that black dogs are euthanized at very high numbers. Articles have been written in MSNBC, Time Magazine, Bark Magazine and USA Today about the crisis with black dog adoptions. PLEASE Help us change the perception of black dogs. Black dogs are just as loving and rewarding as any other pet. Please consider a black dog. help change this phenomenon!*****

DOMINO'S BIO:

Domino’s approx. 3 yrs old, is a pocket pittie possibly mixed w/ a bit of eng bulldog and a lot of love! She’s a lowrider, weighing approx. 40 pds, w/ a slight underbite and the cutest ears that change position as a show of expression from upright flopped over, to rose and sometimes to down and out like the flying nun. She’s absolutely adorable, dressed in ebony, dashed with a sparkling white bib and is such a pleasant gal to be with. It’s impossible not to fall in love w/ her warm brown eyes, her sweet smile, her non-stop wagging tail and her willingness to make the best of every situation which leads us to her story:

Domino was found abandoned in a building w/ her dear friend Jitsu, a lovely purebred English Bulldog. She a throw away mom, having had a few litters in her young life and he likely the once prized possession. Together they were brought to an overpopulated, under-resourced, local inner-city, high-kill-shelter. Although they were separated in the shelter, they were still able to see each other for playdates and were described as a cute and jovial pair. That was until one day, Jitsu was gone. He was placed w/ another rescue group. Little did Domino know that on that same day, she too had been placed but on the list of dogs to be destroyed; her time was up=**o*( So here’s the part where we tell you Jitsu crashed into the shelter wearing his superdog cape and rescued his lady Domino… how we wish that were possible and true but that only happens in the movies. Sadly the two have been separated but fortunately Domino got a second chance at life too!

Domino’s in a foster home now where she is doing very well. She’s house-trained, crate-trained although likely not necessary as she’s been an angel when left home alone, knows some basic commands, loves children, has been polite with the family cat and even ferrets and is doing well with the family dogs. She loves food and will sit for treats. Her eyes shine even more when she sees its roast beef but she’s still polite about serving herself. She walks quite well on a leash, cordially meets other dogs and is a friendly gal in playgroups with other pooches. She enjoys caresses and with a little help, she will hop on the bench to cozy up for quiet time, hugs and kisses (and she’s the best gentle kisser ever).

Domino is loving gal with a very sweet and sociable disposition who will make a wonderful fur-ever companion. She’s been fully vetted including vaccinated, spayed and micro-chipped and is a healthy gal. All she needs now is a fur-ever family/person of her own and a place she can call home.
