My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Darcy!
Darcy has to be one of the cuddliest puppies with the cutest wrinkly, smooshy face ever. Unfortunately we're not kidding so it's difficult everyday for her foster family not to adopt her themselves! She's a short, muscular, chunky, 3-month-old, gorgeous blue pit bull mix that absolutely everyone. She greets everyone by wiggling her entire body because she's so happy! She's highly affectionate in that she loves to give kisses, be held, and be cuddled or nap on your lap on the couch.

She eats all of her food without a problem and loves treats. She travels nicely in the car and does well while getting a bath. She sleeps in a crate at night and spends time in it when we are away from home. She doesn't mind it and she settles down immediately without a peep. Her foster family is currently working on potty training and she is doing well. She loves going on walks and does well on a leash.

She currently lives with one other foster puppy and two resident adult dogs. She would play all day with the other puppy if she could but settles down nicely when it's time to take a break. Without the other puppy around, she is a pretty calm and lower maintenance puppy. It's possible she could want to play too much for an older dog so if she is adopted into a home with an existing pup, he or she should be able to deal with normal puppy antics. That being said, she would love to have a buddy to play with as she loves playing and cuddling with dogs as well as people.

We have no doubt Darcy would be the perfect pup in a variety of different households and will make a special someone very, very happy!

Darcy’s adoption fee is $350 and she is being fostered in southeastern Wisconsin. Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
