My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is a courtesy listing for another group. If you have questions please contact them directly at saveamuttkennel@yahoo.com .

Transport to CT and be arranged.

Bitsy is a 2 year old tiny baby. She may weigh 5 pounds soaking wet. She is a sweet baby who had a rough start in life. Her former owner kept her OUTSIDE in a dog lot in all types of weather. Not only that she let her get bred by a dog that was WAY too big. A friend took Bitsy in to try to save her when she started having puppies. When it came time for her to have puppies she could not because they were too big. Long story short the tiny tot of a dog racked up a vet bill over $800.00. In the end she was worth every single penny. She has no complications what so ever due to her ordeal. She is a happy healthy and SPAYED dog now. She also has a tiny crook to one of her front legs. She walks fine and with no limping. My vet said it was due to a break when she was young that was not attended to.

Bitsy is great with cats, and most other dogs. She tends to be a bit bossy to one of the dogs at her foster home. She follows her around and barks at her. I think it is due to the other dog being very submissive. She is good with people, but likes to play a game I call "Catch Me If You Can". She comes to you on her own terms and often when you set down or lay down in the bed. She behaves like that because her flight instinct kicks in which is a survival instinct all dogs have. A person down to their level(sitting) is less threatening than one standing and towering over them. I deal with this ordeal by not chasing. She realized if she wants her treats she will have to come to me. This approach works perfectly when it comes time to go to bed and be crated. Once you get a hold of her she is totally fine. There is no aggression or anything. She is totally fine with being loved on. Honestly, if her adopter would let her sleep with them she would be totally content lol. She is a snuggler.

I would rather her go to a home with NO small kids under 12 years old. The fact is due to her tiny size, she would not do well in a home with toddlers who do not know yet to be gentle. She would do best in a home as an only dog, but she would be ok with a home with dogs who are comfortable with a nosy busy body pint size canine.

She is spayed, current on shots and heartworm testing, spayed and microchipped.

We do require a pre screen application to apply. You can can that on the main web site at www.saveamuttkennel-ny.info . Please read the faq page while you are there.
